I have finally gotten around to trying the matcha sample that teapigsUS sent me and man oh, man it is delicious! I had two packets so I was able to try it several times - the flavor was always outstanding!
Teapigs recommends you try it as a shot and I followed their directions and used water first and then tried it with orange juice which was pretty delicious, too! Because matcha is incredibly good for you I continued using the sample throughout my day at work.
The whisk you see above is a matcha whisk that helps make sure all of the clumps are melted in the water and is also used in the traditional Japanese tea ritual. I got my whisk from Teavana but Teapigs has a really awesome electric matcha whisk that is on my wishlist!
If you have never tried matcha, it is a high concentrate green tea powder chock full of catechins, amino acid l-theanine and beta carotene! It has a very rich and creamy flavor and is great iced, hot or blended. Many people use steamed milk to make green tea lattes which is a yummy treat; Also, you can cook with matcha! Green tea brownies FTW!
Good matcha can be pricey but it is definitely worth it and this stuff lasts awhile be since you usually use small amounts. This matcha is priced at $34.99.
I rate this matcha from teapigs a 5 out 5 stars!

With a story like this, how can you not want to try this Mao Feng Green Tea by Teapigs US:
A young man and a beautiful young woman from a tea plantation were in love, but the local tyrant seized her as his concubine. She escaped, only to learn that the tyrant had killed her lover. Finding his body deep in the mountains she wept and wept until she became the rain, while her lover's body turned into a tea bush. Which is why, according to the legend, the area where Mao Feng tea grows is forever cloudy and humid the whole year round.
Romantic and beautiful are great ways to describe this tea - it's rich and lush with flavor! Grown in the Anhui Province of China, this Mao Feng green tea is a nice, soft green tea with hints of sweet apricot flavors. I steeped mine just under boiling for about 3 minutes - don't let this one steep too long or you might have a slightly bitter flavor. It does have a slightly off putting smell, so just don't sniff the leaves.
Don't add any sugars to this tea - it's delicious all on it's own and doesn't need any help!
I rate this green tea a 4 out of 5 stars.
Enjoy a yummy cuppa green tea? I recommend these!
This smooth and delicious oolong tea gets its name from the mountainous region of Taiwan and might be a bit more pricey per cup but it's totally worth it! This Tung Ting Oolong comes from one of my favorite companies, TeaPigs. The tea itself is light with delicious flavors similar to a green tea but gives you a nice lift which is perfect for an afternoon stuck at the office...especially on a Friday!
If you are wanting to try oolong out as a newbie, I definitely recommend this one. It will give you a fantastic first impression of oolong teas and the delicate flavors at play.Steep with boiling water for about 3-4 minutes and don't you dare add anything to it!

This light and invigorating tea is perfect the mid-day slumps. Plus, I just love TeaPigs. They have incredible teas and their branding is awesome and well, they support cool events like Made by Few. They sent tons of tea for the attendees of a tech conference I help organize and quite simply - they rock.
