What a fantastic year back at tea blogging! I have been so fortunate this past year to make time for tea again and share my adventures with friends and family! Because I have tried so many teas this year, I decided to take a moment to highlight my favorite teas of 2014! Here they are in no particular order:
*Full disclosure: Some of the teas on this list were given to me for free by the company to review throughout the year. However, none of these tea companies asked me to mention them in this list nor did they know this post would take place. All opinions in this list are my own and not influenced by payment or gift.
Let's just get it out there, right off the bat: THIS WAS DISGUSTING. I am so bummed out about this because I love mint-chocolate flavors but this...this was just bleh. I picked up this Cocoa Mint Mate by Tazo on a whim of holiday tea spirited-ness and I will be leaving my mint chocolate cravings to coffees and martinis.
I drink a lot of teas and mint chocolate is one of my favorite staple flavors but it is just not meant to be a tea flavor. The tea was odd to say the least. The natural mint was overshadowed by the bitter cocoa nib flavor and the flavor was dull and bitter. The mint tasted like it was burned or the leaves were improperly dried. I tried adding a hint of rock sugar, then honey and then decided sweeteners made the flavor worse.
There was just nothing I could do to make this mint tea taste better. Don't be fooled, this tea is nothing like the flavor you would suspect from the title. I won't be trying it again. I poured it out - which is super rare because even teas I don't particularly like I can still finish the cup because there's nothing worst than wasting tea.
But this one...this one was worth throwing away. Sorry Tazo, I am usually a fan of your teas but this one was a let down.
I rate this tea a 0 out of 5 stars.

(Trust me, they have better teas!)
I rate this yerba mate iced tea a 4 out of 5 stars!
