I have been meaning to make this popsicle recipe for a few weeks now. I just love a sweet treat right before bed and usually I go for a sugar ridden unhealthy bowl of ice cream or a freezer pop. When I started making tea popsicles I thought what a great idea it would be to use chamomile tea for those late night treats.
Chamomile naturally relaxes you and is a great night-time tea because of it's incredible herbal properties. I love strawberries and they have worked really well with my other popsicle recipes but the pluots are a new addition. What is a pluot? It's a yummy, super sweet apricot/plum hybrid. I picked some up from the local Kroger and really liked the flavor as a fruit so I thought - why not use them with the popsicles!
They turned out - INCREDIBLE! Okay - onto the recipe and process - enjoy!
Step One: Get your ingredients together.
I used Chamomile Flowers by Teapigs (two temples), fresh strawberries, two ripe pluots, honey (preferably local - I used the last of some I got from a trip to Williamsburg, Virginia), popsicle molds and my black and decker chopper/blender.
Step Two: Blend your ingredients.
Brew your tea first and let cool while chopping and dicing the pluots and strawberries. I blended the fruits first into a pureé and then added the tea. Leave some extra fruit chunks for the molds! Tea Tip: Use less water than usual and use two bags. You will get a highly concentrated flavor which will help the chamomile flavor come through better.
Step Five: Enjoy your Chamomile Strawberry-Pluot popsicles!
Don't add any extra sugar or honey than directed - the pluots and the strawberries already have plenty of natural sweetness and you want these to be healthy! If you enjoyed this recipe you might also like these other popsicle recipes using tea!
